The island of Fuerteventura is just 62 miles from the coast of Morocco, and is one of the most popular holiday destinations. The island has more than a hundred and fifty beaches.

With a dramatic volcanic landscape, little rainfall and all year round warm temperatures, the desert landscape is unique and large areas of the island are protected parks.

Fuerteventura (Fuerte – strong: Ventura – happiness) has been described as "the land that time forgot". It is the second largest of the Canary Islands and coming here really is like stepping back in time! Many people mistakenly believe the name of the island stands for "Strong Wind" and although there is often a steady, pleasing breeze, this is usually a welcome relief that makes the hot temperatures a pleasure.

It also makes Fuerteventura a water sport paradise – windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing take place all over the island.

Caleta de Fuste is very much an up-and-coming resort geared to families. Opposite the Golf Course you can find restaurants of all nationalities to suit all tastes and all pockets. It has a bowling alley, an multi-lingual cinema and a large Supermarket

A shuttle bus service is available between the golf course hotel (5 min walk from the Villa), the resort of Caleta De Fuste and the large shopping mall. Two pretty lagoon beaches are a fifteen minute walk or three minutes drive from the villa. From there you can walk along the promenade into the centre of the resort or to the main beach at El Playa del Castillo. Before you reach the lagoon beaches there is an excellent new shopping mall. It has a very good choice of shops and restaurants, as well as a very large supermarket with a good variety of fresh food. There are diving and windsurfing centres on the beach at Caleta De Fuste. The villa is a 15 minute transfer from the airport by car or taxi.


Landing at the airport, the first thing you are struck by is the stark, lunar-like landscape. But explore beyond that and you find vast sweeping sand dunes, lagoons, little fishing villages and isolated sandy coves.

Caleta de Fuste is an ideal base for exploring this island being midway between north and south.
