Kizingoni House has been built and positioned to take full advantage of the west facing view for spectacular sunsets and sea views and to catch the sea breezes throughout the year.
The large central living/dining room is simply designed in the Swahili style with traditional plasterwork and wooden beams, with a magnificent locally crafted dining table. The house has four baraza (meeting/sitting) areas – in the protected courtyard garden, next to the plunge pool, on the first floor terrace and finally on the roof with fabulous views of the sea on both sides of the peninsula. The house has four double bedrooms, all with bathroom en-suite and each with a private balcony with sea views. The large master bedroom faces west with superb sea views framed by coconut palms. Its spacious bathroom has a Swahili style bath and from the bedroom there is direct access to the rooftop patio and bar area. The pool has a separate bathroom and changing room. The house is furnished with traditional Swahili items of furniture, locally crafted items and pieces from around Africa and Asia.
A combination of solar and wind power make the house totally self-sufficient for electricity and hot water and the house it has its own well. A back-up generator for emergencies is also provided.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with top of the line appliances. It has a gas oven, fridge/freezer, ice-cream maker, blender and sufficient cutlery/flatware, crockery, kitchenware to comfortably cater for 24 people. Over the kitchen there is a room for live-in cook/steward and there are various storage/laundry rooms off the kitchen.
There is excellent mooring right in front of the house for a boat.
Mature coconut palms, doum palms and many indigenous shrubs and trees grow on the 1.5 acres of land surrounding the house – many of them rare and unusual. A small coconut plantation of 40 palms has recently been replanted next to the house. In the courtyard garden and close to the house jasmine, frangipani, desert rose, date palms and hibiscus are growing. There are also fresh herbs outside the kitchen door. |

| Notes from the owner/agent | Please email us your requested dates and we will advise you on availability. Once availability is confirmed, an invoice will be forwarded to you and your booking confirmed on receipt of a 25% deposit of the rent quoted. After sending the invoice, we allow for two weeks to receive the deposit. If we do not hear anything after two weeks, we will be obliged to give the dates out to the next request.
On receipt of your 25% deposit, we will send you a confirmation and a statement. The balance of the rental is due 40 calendar days before arrival in Lamu.
Cancellation fees are 25% up to 40 days before arrival, 75% up to 21 days before arrival and 100% after 21 days before arrival.
The minimal renting period over the Christmas period is 14 days.
All Christmas and New Year bookings must be paid in full when they are booked in order to hold them. |

Additional guests are charged US$50 per person, per day for parties over 8 pax up to a maximum of 12 pax depending on houses plus US$100 for additional boat for transfers. For Full Board please add US$75 per person per day and US$25 per child per day. A breakage deposit of $1,500 is requested. |
