Frangipani is subject to a Luxury tax imposed by the local authorities. This must be paid to our Agent in local currency at the end of your stay. This Luxury Tax is a statement about the quality of the accommodation at Frangipani. Currently 10%; please check for current rate when booking.
Frangipani has two sister apartments (Lily & Elissa) which have an identical specification and are located in the same complex. So if Frangipani is fully booked, please contact Olinda, our agent by phone or email or Mr Edwards the UK rep. (020 8405 8455). Bear in mind that as Olinda is on site, she has up to date booking references and availability.
The apartment is cleaned every day and a linen service is provided every three days. A maid is available at a very reasonable daily rate to provide a shopping service for local produce and sundries.
A safe is available for personal proprerty.
Baga is approx. 10 minutes from Calangute, the main tourist area with a host of hotels, restaurants, shops (including pharmacies), market & bars. Baga is smaller, yet has much the same to offer.
Yoga, Pilates, Ayurvedic medicines & massages are widely available.
Local opticians will test eyesight and provide quality eye wear at a fraction of the UK price.
At low tide you can ford the river which is thigh deep as it meets the sea (do NOT attempt this with small children, due to strong under currents). Alternatively, you can cross over the bridge and walk into Baga which takes approx. 5-7 minutes.
Transport is usually by taxi (although some do hire a motor bike – not recommended !)
The restaurants are excellent and very reasonable, a meal for four with drinks usually costs around £15-£20.
The old gaol and lighthouse above the Taj hotel at Fort Aquada are also imposing; great at sunset & a quick visit for sun downers at the Taj (expensive by Goan standards) should follow.
Old Goa should be visited & it is worth remembering that in this virtual ghost town, there were once more Portugese than in Lisbon!
Old Goa is situated on the Mandovi river, as is Panjim, the Capital of Goa; spare a day to explore and in the evening you can always have a flutter on the casino boats that ply the Mandovi in season.
Anjuna Flea market is famous for its arts & crafts (& hippies) and is also worth a visit.
Bird watching tours are increasingly popular & can be booked locally.
For longer stays, contact Olinda for discounted rates and do ask about ‘Monsoon specials’ from mid-June onwards. Personally, my favourite time to be there!
As is common in all India, power cuts and mossies can be a challenge! Don’t be put off. Sensible precautions and local advice usually work.
No overnight visitors, other than registered guests.
Renters may have upto a maximum of 4 guests use the swimming pool. This is strictly controlled for safety & security reasons.
