La Rochelle is 35mins drive away.

The historic port town of La Rochelle is just 35 mins away with excellent shopping,restaurants,bars, the Aquarium and beaches also the beautiful island of Ile de Re and its beaches, walks, seafood restaurants and cycle hire. Nearer to home there is Mervent - Vouvant. Beautiful forest area offering activities including boating, pedalos and nearby man-made beach and picnic area. Mervent Zoo, Pierre Brune activity park ideal for younger children and nearby adventure center for older ones. You can play Golf at Marsilly a ten min drive outside La Rochelle. There are more excellent high quality golf courses about an hours drive away. Fishing at the world famous Pescalis the first international nature & fishing centre in Europe. There are many other beach resorts that are all within easy reach incl. La Tranche sur Mer, L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Les Sables d'Olonne, also Venise Verte ( Green Venice) you can hire boats here.
