Pisa Province Area Information
Orciatico at 300m above sea level is usually well above the frequent morning mist in the valleys, even in winter. It is the perfect spot to enjoy a slice of authentic Tuscan village life.
Orciatico has about 400 friendly inhabitants - you will definitely be welcomed as part of the village! The village has a cafe/bar, 2 grocery shops, a restaurant, a post office and an ATM cash machine, all within close walking distance. Only 10 mins from Lajatico and the Teatro del Silenzio concert (Andrea Bocelli).
There are several walking trails, ranging from easy to advanced, in the vicinity - several start from the village itself. And of course, you can cool off in our lovely swimming pool in the summer - pool towels are provided.
Orciatico is a good base for sightseeing while being off the main tourist trail. The beautiful alabaster town of Volterra, with its Etruscan museum and Roman amphitheatre, is only 30 minutes by car, and is our main local centre. San Gimignano and Pisa are an hour away. Slightly further afield but still within easy day trip distance are Florence, Siena and Lucca (1.5 hours). The seaside, and the SuperTuscan wines of Bolgheri (such as Sassicaia), are also within an hour's drive.
