Gravedona was historically an important village, the palace Gallium, the baptismal church of S.Maria del Tiglio are testimony to its history . The area has a temperate climate in summer and pleasant temperatures in winter favoured by the warm "tramontana" wind descending from the Alps.
Being south of the Alps especially in winter there are many days of cloudless weather, whereas in summer thunderstorms, which last a few hours, refresh the air. For golfers at least 3 golf courses are nearby including the oldest course in Italy: Menaggio.
An excursion by ferry boat, crisscrossing the lake gives you a beautiful view on the private villas and parks. You can also criss-cross the lake by boat with regular services. In Gravedona there are plenty recreational activities and water sports.
