Casalbordino is a traditional village in "Real Italy". In this wine making region of Abruzzo the village is set just 5km from the Adriatic Coast, with a backdrop of the Apennine Mountains to the West.
Casalbordino is centered around a quaint piazza coupled with a large Catholic church with towering bell tower that can be seen from far around. The historical Madonna di Miracoli has seen many Catholic pilgrimages and events such as opera and regular festas. The small town has a Sunday Market, many shops, bars and supermarkets suitable for your holiday needs.
The region also boasts fabulous mountainous National Parks, ski resorts, dozens of places of historical interest and over 170km of beaches on the clean and warm Adriatic coastline.
The nearest city is Vasto just 15 minutes drive to the South a very popular holiday destination for the Italians. Vasto has a great water park, fun for all the family.
Approximately 35 minutes drive to the North is Pescara the largest City in the region. Served with an international airport, this city is bustling with shops, restaurants, markets, bars and places of interest including many Catholic Churches and museums. The airport has daily flights from Stansted with the very popular and low cost airline - Ryanair.
From the airport there is an excellent timely and frequent train service South to Casalbordino Lido, and then a short 10 min bus trip (every 20mins) to Calabordino if you prefer public transport. All are clean, modern and very good value.
Low cost car hire is available in Pescara at the airport if you want to explore the region more readily. The A14 Autostrada (motorway) connects Pescara, Casalbordino and then heads South to the adjoining regions of Puglia and Molise. Alternatively the A24 heads West over the Mountains to Roma only 2hrs away.
Within reasonable driving range you can also easily reach Naples, Bari, Rimini & San Marino (all around 2 to 3 hours).
If you like great scenery, mountains, pizza, ice cream, red wine, sunshine & beaches then this place is really quite heavenly.
