The cottage was completely restored in 2006 in the classic Tuscan style (beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and internal shutters), yet is light and modern in feel. It forms part of a working farm located among 5 hectares of vineyard and olive groves in the beautiful Orcia Valley, landscape which has been celebrated by artists down the ages.
Accommodation
Bedrooms: 2 double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom 2 has two single beds which can be made into a double. Each bedroom has a wardrobe, two bedside tables, a desk and two chairs. A hairdryer is supplied in each bedroom.
Bathrooms: Bathroom 1 is en-suite to bedroom 1 and contains shower, washbasin, loo and bidet. Bathroom 2 is accessible from small central hallway located right next to bedroom 2 . This contains a loo, shower and washbasin suitable for use by people with mobility problems.
Kitchen: The front door leads from a gravelled patio area into the open-plan kitchen cum living room. The kitchen is modern and brand new. It contains a four-ring gas hob, electric oven, sink, fridge/freezer, is well-equipped and includes a kettle.
Living room: Is open-plan with the kitchen and contains a large dining table, chairs, a bench, TV, dresser with a small selection of books in English and a peacock chair.
Cleaning/Towels etc
The beds will be made up for you on arrival. Bed linen and towels are provided and will be changed weekly. The property is cleaned weekly.
Notes on Accommodation
The cottage was entirely renovated in 2006 respecting the classic Tuscan architecture yet light and modern. The kitchen is well-equipped and we will provide a welcome package which will include red wine, milk, bread, some coffee, tea, packet of croissants or similar and olive oil.

Accessibility
The cottage is located on ground level and is thus easily accessible for people with mobility problems. If you wish, you can park right outside the cottage. To arrive at the cottage, you have to drive along 500 metres of unmade road from the main road.
Outside
On three sides of the cottage there is a gravelled patio area with gazebo, table, chairs and loungers for sitting/dining outside. On two sides of the cottage there is a terraced garden with steps going up, leading into the olive grove.
The cottage forms part of a 5 hectare farm and our guests are welcome to wander freely in the olive grove and the vineyard enjoying the typical Tuscan views, including a view of the Strada Panoramica (scenic road) which leads to the mediaeval hill town of Monticchiello.
We (Luigi Italian and Lis British) have lived in the area for some years and live in the neighbouring farmhouse. We are therefore on site and available if you have any problems or queries. German, Spanish and French are also spoken if needed.
Pienza with its numerous restaurants, bars, Post Office, banks, shops and supermarkets is an easy 4 minute drive along the main road. The nearest open-air swimming pool is at San Albino (ca 13 kms). Thermal spas are located in nearby Chianciano Terme (ca 17 kms), San Albino (ca 13 kms) and Bagno Vignoni (ca 16 kms).

Siena Province Area Information
Pienza, a mediaeval town of great historic interest, is only an easy 3 km drive away and offers an array of restaurants, bars, shops selling local produce, two small supermarkets, banks and PO. The cottage forms a perfect base for exploring the Val D'Orcia (incorporating Pienza, Montalcino, Radicofani, Castiglione D'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni ), as well as nearby towns of historical interest such as Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona, Perugia, Arezzo, Orvieto. Florence is also within easy strike distance.
Coast/Beach
The Tuscan coast is ca 1 hour away by car or in the same time you can drive to Lago Trasimeno in Umbria with its islands, beaches and availability of water-sports.
Golf
There is a Golf Club at Val Di Chiana near Foiano (ca 25kms).
Skiing
In winter, you can ski on Monte Amiata which is a distance of about 40 kms
