Sant'Angelo and the Province of Viterbo
There are many wonderful towns and archeological sites like Orvieto ( 32 km ), Marta ( 29 km), Montefiascone ( 18 km ) to visit within an hour's drive, as well as the thermal springs at Saturnia ( 18 km ), lake Bolsena ( 29 km), and the Tyrrenian sea beaches ( Pescia Romano and Montalto 80 km ) as well as the Monster Park at Bomarzo ( 29 km). A nature preserve is nearby with hiking trails. Locally-produced salumi, cheese, wine, and olive oil are very good.
There are many different landscapes in the Province, which can all be easily reached from this one location. The Tyrrhenian Coastline is the most famous part of the province, with its multiple sand and pebble beaches which form a natural boundary between land and sea.
The huge crater of Bolsena lake is extremely picturesque, and much of the area has been protected by being included in large swathes of national parkland, which attract walkers and mountain bikers who enjoy travelling slowly through some of Tuscany's most dramatic scenery.
