Sugarmill Woods is a unique location on Florida's beautiful Nature Coast and is located near the Gulf of Mexico, south of Homosassa. During the winter months manatees overwinter in the crystal clear waters from springs which stay at a constant 72F. At the nearby Homosassa Springs State Park manatees can be viewed all year round from an underwater gallery. Golf is the major sport for the area and there are numerous golf courses nearby . The nearest beach with white sand is a 20 minute drive away. River tours are available in Homosassa and Crystal River to swim with the manatees and for fishing, snorkeling and scalloping trips. The area between Sugarmill Woods and the Gulf of Mexico is a nature reserve where the palm forest breaks down into islands and inlets.
