There is no other sea view plot of land in Bulgaria so huge as this one. The “Kaliakra” Natural Reserve was announced in 1960 and it currently has an area of 687.5 dca with wild steppes and impressive coastal cliffs, some up to 70 m high. The flora numbers over 400 species. 47 of them are rare and threatened with extinction. Kaliakra is among the few places in Europe where the rose-colored starling, the black wheatear, the stone curlew, the Isabelline wheatear, the shag and the Alpine swift nest.
