Piraeus is one of the prefectures of Greece. It is part of the periphery of Attica and the Athens-Piraeus super-prefecture. The capital of the prefecture is the city of Piraeus. The prefecture covers the south-western part of the agglomeration of Athens, several islands in the Saronic Gulf (Salamis, Aegina, Agkistri, Poros, Hydra, Dokos, Spetses, Spetsopoula), Methana and Troizina on the Peloponnese peninsula, and the islands of Kythira and Antikythera south of the Peloponnese.

Poros is a small Greek island-pair in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf, at a distance about 48 km (32 miles) south from Piraeus and separated from the Peloponnese by a 200 meters wide sea channel.
Poros consists of two islands: Sphairia or Sferia.
Poros is an island with rich vegetation. Much of the northern and far eastern/western sides of the island are bushy, whereas large areas of old pine forest are found in the south and center of the island. It has a very adequate tourist infrastructure, which makes it a popular resort for short holidays.
