HURRICANE FREE: Due to its topography, St. Augustine is considered one of the least likely spots on the South East coast to be hit by a hurricane (one of the reasons the Spanish founded the city here).

St. Augustine was founded in 1565 (50 years before the Pilgrims reached these shores) and is the oldest lasting-settlement in North America. It has historic charm with cobbled streets and even a 16th century castle/fort.

Located in North East Florida, St. Augustine is an ocean and riverside town with unspoilt beaches, beautiful waterways, some of the best golf courses in USA while being a 90 minute drive to Orlando.

Direct flights from UK. Three main airports in driving distance. Jacksonville and Daytona airports serve most of USA while Orlando offers direct flights to many cities around the world.

North Florida boasts a year-round mild climate perfect for strolling St. Augustine's delightful historic district, with quaint cafes, bars, unique shops and bed-and-breakfast inns.

Atlantic Ocean with 43 miles of uncrowded beaches. There's the right type of beach for everyone: some permit vehicles and dogs while others allow only pedestrians. Some of the beaches are great for shelling, others are covered only in luxurious fine, golden sand. Surfs up on several beaches.

Weather is wonderful. From October through April the sun shines most days and temperatures reach 65-75F (18 to 23C); evenings are cool but you can sit outside and eat most nights. This is much nicer than south, west and central Florida where temperatures can be brutal for most of the year. Summer has a similar pattern with warm balmy weather that is up to 10 degrees, Fahrenheit cooler than other areas.
