About the village: This is one of the oldest settlements in the area

which has been established in the XIV century. There are old Roman and

Thracian remains in the outskirts of the village. By the mid-50s years

of the 17th century, it keeps its purely Bulgarian character. In the

80s - 90s of the 18th century the village was burned and its

population was killed during a punitive action of the Turkish

authority against its inhabitants. Some of the survivors returned

back and created today's village at the site of a forest, hidden in a

small valley ("hidden village").
The old church burned during the Liberation War - in 1877, was built

in 1850, a church school in the village was in 1859, remnants of which

still are preserved in the northern part of the churchyard. The

current church "St. Archangel Michael", dates from 1879 and was

declared a monument of the Renaissance, but has long needed overhaul

to become active again and appealing to Orthodox Christians. Built on

site of burned church earlier.
