The name Ciaramiti comes from the Greek for tiles, so it is not surprising that the apartments at Tropea Sunset all come in a traditional design with traditional Italian tiled roofs. The exclusive development is set in attractive landscaped gardens and the homes have all been specifically designed to compliment the local architecture with the low rise development blending in beautifully with its surroundings.
Each apartment has two spacious bedrooms and a luxury bathroom. They have light and airy sitting rooms and kitchens, ideal for couples and for families. The homes are designed take full of advantage of the area's wonderful sunny climate.
The luxury apartments are fitted with ample storage space, particularly useful for anyone renting out their homes. The first floors enjoy a terrace and balcony with the ground floor flats having their own private patios leading to the landscaped grounds. There is ample safe parking available on site too.
The development is a few minutes walk down to the beautiful, long white sandy beach of Formicoli , as well as watersports including diving, snorkelling and sailing. The area is rich in historical sites with their own fascinating stories to tell.
Tropea Sunset at Ciaramiti is just five minutes from the beautiful white beach of Formicoli and five minutes from
the buzzing town of Tropea. A charming small village, Ciaramiti nestles on a hillside which offers stunning views of the lovely surrounding countryside, nearby Tropea and of course the shimmering turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The village has a long history dating back to when the Greeks settled the countryside. Indeed its name comes from the Greek keramis, which means a tile, and it was here that the bricks and tiles were manufactured for the distinctive homes in the area. Ciaramiti is a tranquil town and its green hills make a wonderful setting for this exclusive development. Each of the Ciaramiti apartments has a spacious feel, with a light and airy sitting room and fitted kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. First floor apartments have a terrace and balcony with the ground floor homes enjoying their own private patios. There are parking spaces and landscaped grounds to enjoy. Fashionable Tropea, Tropea is so enchanting it is considered to be one of the
seven pearls of the Mediterranean Sea. Known as the St Tropez of southern Italy, it is the most important and
fashionable centre on the Coast of the Gods. Cosmopolitan Tropea has a real buzz. Like so much of Calabria, once discovered it is never forgotten! It was lovingly described by early visitors as "a truly lovely historic stronghold that sprouts straight out of a 300ft crag with a cliff edge cathedral". This 12th century cathedral is the home of the icon of the Madonna di Romania. The attractive town, crammed with lovely 17 and 18th century buildings constructed for rich merchants with courtyards, colonnades and important porticos, is popular with both locals and visitors. It is famous throughout Italy for its quaint and irresistible labyrinth of cobbled, narrow streets, pretty buildings, friendly restaurants and bars. It offers explosive views of Stromboli, especially at sunset ... and on August 12 the sun drops right into the cup of the volcano, like a bright red boiled egg.
The Church of Sancata Maria de Linsila de Tropea is one of the tourist icons of Calabria. It was built in the year 800 as a Benedictine Monastery, surrounded by the sea. The church is known as one of the wonders of Italy in miniature. Local museums trace the fascinating history of the town and there is a private museum dedicated to "automatic machines", obviously one for the connoisseur. The Tropea area is also renowned for producing the very best red onions in Italy and there is even a red onion ice cream to celebrate this fame! One of the town's many food festivals, the Blue Fish and Red Onions Festival, is tremendously popular with visitors.
The town now has an attractive new marina to add to its charm. Boats cruise from the marina to the romantic,
nearby Aeolian Islands and also Stromboli. So much to enjoy! Ten minutes down the road going south are popular
Ricardi and Capo Vaticano. Ricardi dates back thousands of years and in earlier days was home to the Greeks, the Carthaginians, Byzantines, Saracens and Normans! There are a vast array of fascinating historical sites to visit. The three bays of Grotticelli, the little caves, are a must for everyone who loves sea bathing. There is also a popular Agricultural Museum nearby. Capo Vaticano, with its lighthouse, is set on a breathtakingly beautiful rocky outcrop jutting out over the sea dividing the Gulf of St Euphemia from the Gioia Tauro. It is particularly popular with families who love the area's creeks, caves and secret beaches. Fishermen will love this beautiful coast and it is rich in marine life for visitors who enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving too. Sailing is readily
