In the downstairs courtyard there are two large storage spaces, of some 6 sqm each. Winding stairs lead up into the medieval house. The stairway has been painted by a famous local artist with a view of the village. There is a comfortable laundry room. The first floor has a pretty kitchen, an office, 2 bedrooms and bathroom, all developed with style, making the most of the original features. Stairs lead to the second floor with an extremely glamorous and artistic siting room, with open fireplace, the room opens onto a charming roof terrace overlooking Medieval Dolceacqua and the Castle. There are a further two bedrooms and bathroom. An open plan wooden staircase leads to the top floor with its large roof terrace and further bedroom. The whole has been resored with great respect for the fine original features and medieval origns of the house. The Location: Dolceacqua is one of the finest and most well known medieval villages of Liguria, placed some four kilometers from the coast and its fine sandy beaches. Dolceacqua has its foundations in Roman times, its name signifies `sweet water`. The castle is first mentioned in 1151 when the Counts of Ventimiglia decided to srategically reinforce the Nervia Valley. Its beautiful bridge, painted by Monet, dates from the Fourteenth Century. The village has developed around the castle with narrow winding streets, closed to traffic. The village because of its natural beauty has become famous over time, and is now filled with many fine restaurants and very artistic small bars. The area around it is covered by vinyards and olive groves. There are very fine deep granite pools for swimming on the river nearby. Some 30 minutes drive above their is Cross Country skiing at Colle Lanagan in the winter months. For more information and to contact us use the email link.
