The zone in which it is placed is stunningly panoramic, placed some 3 km above the villages of Dolceacqua and Rochetta Nervina. The mountain views are fabulous over the valley of Dolceacqua and beyond to Baiardo. The area is a zone characterised by large expanses of mountainside with meadow and olive grove giving way to the pine forest above. The land plot is in a situation of absolute tranquility, with its own private driveway of about 1 km. The village of Rochetta below is famous for the very large granite pools on the river, fabulous for swimming in summer. The village of Dolceacqua is perhaps the most famous medieval village of the area, placed on the river some 4 km to the coast and with many wonderful restaurants and bars. Its medieval bridge was painted by Monet and the Castle of the Doria dates to the 11th Century. The Location: Dolceacqua is one of the finest and most well known medieval villages of Liguria, placed some four kilometers from the coast and its fine sandy beaches. Dolceacqua has its foundations in Roman times, its name signifies `sweet water`. The castle is first mentioned in 1151 when the Counts of Ventimiglia decided to srategically reinforce the Nervia Valley. Its beautiful bridge, painted by Monet, dates from the Fourteenth Century. The village has developed around the castle with narrow winding streets, closed to traffic. The village because of its natural beauty has become famous over time, and is now filled with many fine restaurants and very artistic small bars. The area around it is covered by vinyards and olive groves. There are very fine deep granite pools for swimming on the river nearby. Some 30 minutes drive above their is Cross Country skiing at Colle Lanagan in the winter months.
