Bamboo - The Sustainable Timber Source of The Future

Sustainable timber in all its forms represents arguably one of the most secure investments available and bamboo is perhaps the most exciting of any timber offering fixed returns of up to 55%.

The global timber trade exceeds $600bn per year and is increasing, but supply is dwindling as 30% is produced illegally and another 40% is unsustainable. With its exceptional green credentials and high productivity, bamboo is set to become the sustainable timber source
of the future.

Bond Structure

Any investment you make is paid directly to UK based Citadel Trustees. The funds are held there until EcoPlanet Bamboo (UK) meets the criteria for releases. Citadel have undertaken extensive due diligence on the project including the review of financial plans, land ownership documents and contracts.

The issued bonds are to be held by Citadel on behalf of investors. In addition, 75% of all revenue arising from the Rio Kama Plantation is paid directly to Citadel who in turn use the funds to pay bond interest before releasing excess proceeds to EcoPlanet. Citadel also hold a fist ranking charge over the shares of EcoPlanet Bamboo II (owner of Rio Kama) in case of default.

Our Bamboo Growing Process

Guadua is a genus of bamboo with consists of 30 species, including Guadua Angustifolia, and is native to Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Although not originally native, Nicaragua has stands of Guadua that were established as far back as the 1930s and have become fully integrated in to the tropical forests of the Atlantic Coast.

Guadua Angustifolia is most economically developed and commercialized of the Guadua species. Under optimal conditions it can reach a height of around 30m, with a diameter of 20cm and reaches maturity within 4 to 5 years.

In addition to the utilization of seeds from flowering events (with the most recent event occurring in Nicaragua in 200/2010) reproduction can be done
through vegetative propagation of small plants. They can be multiplied rapidly, at low cost and can be ready for transplanting within 3 months.
