Our farm is a family run organic permaculture farm in Chitwan District, Nepal with supporters in Arizona, USA. We chose this lifestyle because of our commitment to sustainability, permaculture, and living on the land in a way that builds long-lasting connections in the village and around the world. Our farm is located in Gunjangar, a village in Chitwan District in the Terai region of Nepal. It is 150 km from Kathmandu and 15 km from Chitwan National Park. It is 4 km from Narayani river and 11 km from Rapti river. Saradanagar is around one km away with some shops available. Thanedar Chowk is a two minute walk. Staying on our farm, you will have opportunities to learn more about organic farming, experience rural Nepali lifestyles and practice Nepali. Ms. Pramila jee and Ms. Shanta jee will be your hosts, along with their family members who live nearby. Pramila enjoys teaching guests how to speak Nepali and hearing their stories from around the word. Shanta is Pramila's didi (sister-friend) and has been farming for many years. She loves Nepali music and comedy. Pramila's parents and uncle live nearby and visit often. They know so much about living off of the land, and are happy to teach guests about this on occasion. Your stay will be met with lively conversation, a lot of laughter, and wholesome farm cuisine. The food is mostly local and organic. Meals include delightful variations of dahl, bhat, saag and achar. Our farm is 2.7 acres (1.1 hectares) and has many trees to provide fruit, such as lychees, mangos and bananas. We are currently planting more banana trees, kitchen garden beds, including cabbage, spinach (saag), pumpkin, a variety of beans, coriander, cucumber, carrot. We also have plots for seasonal vegetables, such as mustard greens and cauliflower in the winter and tomatoes and okra (lady fingers) in the summer. Also you can learn how to make homestyle Nepali dal bhat. You will also learn how to select wild greens for use in saag, a spinach-like staple of Nepali cuisine. We have a large comfortable brick house. Clean water comes from a municipality and well water is used for the garden.
