Piazza Armerina, the perfect investment
Strolling through the center of Piazza Armerina, I meet up with Luigi, my guide for the day. He has the air of a slightly melancholic actor, and his name seems to tie him—unknowingly—to one of the most famous fathers of Italian literature, who was born on this marvelous Mediterranean island. With a sly smile, he takes me to see the first property on my list: a fully renovated apartment, a modern and refined interpretation of a historic residence. The old building that houses it, located on the first floor, has been renovated on the first two levels: the ground floor, which now hosts commercial spaces, and the piano nobile, with an independent side entrance—that’s the one we’re about to visit.Luigi points out how the renovation was designed to gracefully welcome those seeking an atmosphere of class, while keeping intact the connection to local tradition and the soul of the place. The apartment, he tells me, has a long history of hospitality. Years ago, truck drivers would stop here after long journeys to refuel—the building had a gas station attached—and then spend the night in the rooms we’re about to see. With the same sly smile, he adds that more than resting their weary bodies, they were here to satisfy other needs.Only the silent walls know those stories now. Today, the rooms have been redesigned to become an exclusive bed & breakfast, made up of large, bright spaces, all furnished in a modern and refined style—never too much, always just right. We visit the common living area, which opens onto a picturesque view of the town. It’s a cozy space where color and natural light intertwine to offer moments of relaxation. We continue with the four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Every room features a brightly painted wall behind the bed—a sensory touch that gives each space its own unique identity. The rooms’ beauty is enhanced by barrel-vaulted ceilings, finished with Venetian stucco and masterfully lit to add a regal feel to every corner. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and private bathrooms, featuring spacious showers that invite guests to unwind. Two of the rooms open onto small balconies overlooking the piazza, where the town’s life flows slowly and calmly, always within sight of those who appreciate history and the city’s living breath. One of the rooms includes a beautiful corner whirlpool tub, large enough for two.I must say, the beauty of the old has been perfectly blended with the comfort and practicality of the new. I believe this property is an unmissable opportunity for anyone looking to not just purchase an apartment, but to own a piece of history—lovingly restored and ready to become a profitable business. What are you waiting for? These rooms whisper that they can’t wait to become the silent witnesses of many new stories waiting to unfold.
