Right in the middle of the lovely little village of Colognora di Pescaglia, restored and updated stone built village house with independent “granny flat” below.
The main house (about 60 sqm) is built over 2 levels. The front door opens directly into an open plan breakfasting kitchen and lounge while upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and shower room. The “granny flat” (about 30 sqm) has a fitted dining kitchen, shower room and “bedroom” (no window). The property has a parking space at the back (suitable for a small car).
The beautiful medieval stone built village of Colognora, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and home of the famous “Chestnut Museum” (museodelcastagno.it – in Italian but the pictures in the photo-gallery speak for themselves) is only 20 km north of Lucca, and about the same from Bagni di Lucca.
A bread van comes every day, fruit and vegetables twice a week and general grocery van once or twice a week. You can buy fresh eggs and chickens from the locals and there is a café/restaurant in Vetriano, about 1km away.
The bustling village of Diecimo (10 minutes drive) has a good variety of shops (including 3 grocers, bakery, flower shop, hardware shop) and restaurants as well as a small railway station on the main Pisa/Lucca to Aulla line. The easy drive to the beach (Viareggio) is 50 minutes and the excellent ski resort of Abetone is just over an hour away.
Pisa airport is 1 hour away.
