San Remo, Liguria, Italy: Villa King.
Arguably one of the most sought after locations in the World, the Italian Riviera is the perfect setting for this imposing Villa, one of the finest examples of early 20th century architecture.
Just 30 minutes from the French border and 40 minutes away from Monaco, Villa King is without doubt one of the most significant Villa along the Riviera with an unbeatable position in the heart of San Remo, situated between "Villa Nobel" and the Villa Ormond Gardens, a few steps from the sea, from Portosole Marina and directly on the walking and cycling path.
Built in 1909 with the name of "Villa Spinola", the villa was a wedding gift from Baron Adolph Thiem, a German banker and famous art collector, to his daughter Martha who was married to the Marquis Francesco Spinola of Genoa. During the 1930s the Villa was transformed into an exclusive hotel and took the name of "Villa King" and maintained this destination until 1985. Since then, some restoration and maintenance interventions were carried out but the property needs to be completely restored even if, for example, the roof and the basement have recently undergone some important interventions.
The interiors maintain the characteristics and some original features unaltered: the large full-height entrance hall with its majestic fireplace, excellent ceiling heights, original decorations and the generous dimensions of the rooms bring back the majesty and opulence of the noble residences.
Through the necessary recovery and restoration work to be carried out in agreement with the Superintendence of Environmental and Architectural Heritage, Villa King will be able to become an extremely comfortable family Villa fit for modern living in a prime position. A feasibility study by Arch. Micol Maiga, who has already overseen the renovation of Villa Mostaccini in Bordighera and other significant villas in Liguria, entails an elegantly grand living area on the noble floor with also office and library, three master bedrooms with private bathrooms and large walk-in wardrobes upstairs and four guest suites on the attic floor. A cinema room, a spa, a gym, a professional kitchen and a service area with laundry room and a caretaker's apartment complete the project. All floors will also be connected by an internal lift.
